Some Great Blue Herons are still showing off for prospective mates while others are busy nest-building with their new partners. A wonderful time of year! 💕
Sorry for my delay in responding, Yishai! I’m guessing that the nesting great blue herons are probably 2 to 3 years old as prior to that, they are too young to successfully mate.
The swamps here are full of ‘date night’ also. It’s amazing isn’t it 😁😁. Time for bigger memory cards. You caught a great collection of behaviors here 👏👏
Isn’t it amazing how relatively speaking, prolific bald eagles have become in recent years? What an exciting opportunity that you have them so close to your home!
It’s wonderful!! The male Bald Eagle was on the tree outside the gate again this morning. I got an okay image of the pair late last week. I love that they come here!
I am happy you enjoyed them, Wally. We have to get out there really early to get the best views, b/c the human snowbirds are also VERY numerous at this time of year…😉!
Fabulous photographs, as always! And it’s lovely to get a glimpse of the herons getting ready for an exciting time of year. (Hope there will be lots of babies!)
How old are these birds? I was just wondering how many children’s children they have each year also.

Wonderful series, and yes, a wonderful time of the year!
The pair of Bald Eagles that have been perching in a tree outside our gate for a couple of years are back and it’s so neat to see them side by side.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, Jet! It’s certainly the beginning of the best time of year for all our wetland birds, with all these inviting nesting spots.

A wonderful series of very nice photographs!
The beginning of a terrific time of year. Spring is in the heart (and the hormones), not the calendar.

You’re so kind, Ann! I’ll have to be sure to post a few little video clips when their many babies appear. It can get pretty noisy here!!
