I had stopped to take a photo of some other birds wading in a roadside pond, when all of a sudden . . .
. . . this charming American Bittern suddenly appeared out of nowhere and walked right in front of me on the path.
He looked this way and that ;), and then continued on his way, strolling across the pond and disappearing into the reeds. What a treat~!
What a wonderful surprise! Love these captures of this lovely bird!
Thanks so much, Amy so nice to hear from you.
Its so great when birds like bitterns come out to give an appearance. They, the bitterns, rails, crakes – all painful birds to sight and click. Congratulations on such beautiful pictures.
Yes it’s really a treat! Thanks so much… I really appreciate your comments.
That’s a wonderful surprise and some great photos. Charming is right.
I was busy watching a Heron and an Egret on a pond when this guy just strolled across my viewfinder!
That’s a great surprise
Those are some amazing shots. What a neat experience.
Glad you enjoyed them, Sue!
Great surprise, loved his strutting!
Yes, me too. Certainly didn’t look like he was trying to hide behind the short grass ;-D
Wow, that’s great.
Thank you 😉
