I love the deep blue color of the water as it looked during a recent late afternoon walk at the Refuge, above.Very few birds were out and about, which is typical this time of year – though we can nearly always count on spotting a Great Blue Heron wading quietly through the marsh.
It started to drizzle through the sunshine as we walked, and I couldn’t resist the sight of these slender grasses popping up from the shallow pond in the light rain.
When it began to shower, we climbed up the observation tower to stay dry, and were soon treated to the sight of this beautiful rainbow stretching across a wonderful combination of dark gray clouds and bright blue sky.
What a lovely walk, what a wonderful life~!
Such a beautiful place.
Thank you for stopping by and enjoying it with me, Teri!
Lovely looking spot. Bird activity is pretty quiet here as well but we can usually count on a GBH or two.
This is the Loxahatchee NWR, very close to our home, and it is a great place. I spent time volunteering there with school groups and learned a LOT from the interpretive specialist I worked with!
They are a wealth of information, I too have learned a lot from our local naturalists.
What a wonderful rainbow 😊
Yes, it was such a beautiful surprise to see. Thanks for your visit!
For once there’s something I’ve seen too, the great blue heron:

Spanish calls a rainbow an arco-iris, an iridescent arc.
Lovely. We also saw an occasional Great blue heron in upstate New York. Now that I live in Florida, that seems so out of place. What a wonderful name for a rainbow!
I too love the deep color of the water! And the rainbow was very beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Tiny. Always nice to hear from you!
The rainbow is beautiful. I take them for granted where I live since the Falls makes rainbows many days. Lovely day even with some rain.
I never thought about the fact that the Falls would create rainbows all the time! How lucky for you and others who live near the Falls!
