I remember the lovely morning back in early May when I saw these two fellows. But I lost track of them over the busy birding spring, and just re-discovered them today on a VERY HOT August afternoon 🥵.
The sweet bird above is one of the many adorable Great Egret fledglings growing up in our local wetlands this past spring.
And this cool youngster with the punk hairdo is one of the snazzy Tri-colored Heron kids.😎
🌞🌴 In memories of early May’s embrace, 🌸 Two youngsters caught in nature’s grace. 🍃 Through spring’s birding bustle, they strayed away, 🦜 Found again in August’s heated display. 🌡️
A sweltering afternoon, the air’s so hot, 🥵 Yet their charm shines, a delightful plot. ✨ The adorable Great Egret fledgling, so sweet, 🦢 In wetland’s realm, where they meet and greet. 🌊
Punk hairdo, a style so bold, 😎 Tri-colored Heron’s young, I’m told. 🌈 Coolness in feathers, attitude so grand, 🕶️ In nature’s classroom, they make a stand. 🌳
🌞🌸🍃🦜🌡️🥵✨🦢🌊😎🌈🕶️🌳

Punk hairdos seem to be en vogue with juvenile herons and egrets. 😊

Me too, Kathy! These funny young wading birds always start out like this, and yet they become so sleek and handsome as adults.

Thanks, Deborah! I love the way, their sparse head feathers stick straight up until they get a bit older. 😉

Terrific photographs! And I am jealous of all that hair they’re sporting.
It’s amazing how fast the kids grow up. We’re already having a tough time telling the kids from the adults in the wetlands.

LOL!
Thanks, Wally. Yes, that’s happening here too, of course, though the plumage of the younger ones still gives them away.
