Agreed, Belinda. These apex predators of the wetlands have been here – and looked pretty much the same – for millions of years.

Reptiles seem to be very misunderstood. Interesting re the mothering capabilities of the American alligators. The same is true of the Nile crocodile that occurs here.

This reminds me of the many alligators we saw in south Florida on our trip a year ago. We have them along the Texas coast, too.

They can literally be found wherever there is fresh water in our area. We once did a birding trip in Texas at Aransas NWR and saw signs warning fishermen about aggressive alligators.
