We recently had the good fortune to spend 6 days in Panama – what a beautiful country!!
The stunning BIRDS, the lush landscapes, the clean, clear, fresh air, the warm and friendly people . . .
I only wish I could have taken photos of ALL the birds we saw. Alas, so much to see, so little time. . .

Slaty-tailed Trogon

Tiger Heron

Rufous capped Warbler

Never expected to see a Baltimore Oriole in Central America . . .

Yellow-Rumped Cacique

Female Barred Antshrike

I confess that I’m not really sure which Parrot this is ;/

We saw many Scarlet Tanagers, a bird that has eluded me in Florida

Red-legged Honeycreeper

Tropical Kingbird

Golden-hooded Tanager

Blue Gray Tanagers were everywhere

These Blue Gray Tanagers had quite a feast in the feeder outside our B & B in Gamboa.

Caracara trying to hide in the Botanical Garden

We literally passed right by this ocean-going container ship on the Panama Canal just down the road from our Bed & Breakfast

The mountain views en route to El Valle were breathtaking!

What a country of contrasts!! We spent a couple of days in Panama City – above, an iPhone 6 shot of the Skyline
You should visit more jungles! 😉

I think Ecuador is next on our list, after Israel!

Beautiful post. Great shots. The beauty of panama is you never know what you might see. I once saw a red capped manakin who sadly, eluded my shutter as he flew home.

We’ll have to go back and find that Manakin! ☀️

Thank you very much, MR. They are the two birds who sat still the longest ;-D

So gorgeous! I have a feeling the photographer’s skill was critical, too. 😉 Thanks for sharing these photos of birds that we can’t see in the U.S.

It was a wonderful trip, from start to finish! Only wish I’d been able to get better shots of these and many of the other birds we saw.

And we actually saw many more, though some were so hard to capture in photos – they were all so unique and colorful and beautiful.

The red-legged honeycreeper was one of my absolute favorites. The blue of its feathers is so striking in contrast to its red legs!
