Yes, Pam, it was just at the end of my walk when the first one appeared, and how lucky to spot the second one on the other side of the boardwalk a few minutes later!

What a rich blue-indigo. We have no bird like that in Austin (at least I don’t think so), but we do share the pickerelweed with you.

I do like those young gallinules. I find it interesting with the young adult birds that they do seem to , well, look young in expression…still kind of tentative and quizzical I guess. Can’t say I’ve seen images of this species at this age before. I like them.
