🦋 A stroll through nature’s poetic verse, 🍃 At Circle B Bar, where creatures converse. 🌿 Gems discovered, a visual delight, 💎 In the vibrant palette of nature’s light.
A Black Swallowtail, wings of grace, 🖤 Eastern Phoebe, a song in the space. 🎶 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, a flit so swift, 💙 Dances with joy, nature’s precious gift.
Beneath the sun, an alligator basks, 🐊 In the water’s edge, a Red-bellied mask. 🐢 Spanish Moss, a graceful alleyway, 🌾 Where secrets in the breezes sway.
Furled Primrose, a mystery’s bloom? 🌼 Smallfruit Beggarticks, in nature’s room. 🌸 Virginia Creeper, Spanish Moss entwined, 🌿 A dance of vines, in the gentle wind.

Thanks for your visit, Sue! It was a cattle ranch in the past, but purchased a couple of decades ago by the county and water management district to make a permanently wild preserve.
That butterfly is gorgeous also one I’ve never seen. You had a great nature walk. Although you looked a wee bit too close that gator! I’m hoping it’s the crop and you were well far back using your super telephoto lens. 😀
Thanks so much, Deborah! Funny, you should mention that about the gator as this was a young one… Probably only 3 1/2 feet long. I passed by many others who were a full 10-foot+ adults. Quite a few were mothers with their young who’d hatched over the past couple of months.
Wonderful photographs! This looks like a very special place and a treat to visit. I’m glad that the gator was just a youngster…otherwise your walk might have turned into a bit of a run!

It’s a great place, with many different trails. You could go for several days and never repeat the same path.

Thanks so much, Ann. I’ve been known to turn around and walk the other way on occasion when encountering a large gator in my path. 😉

It’s hard to visit the B and not find delightful things. Your gem collection is evidence.
I usually come away from there with a sore neck from twisting all directions to see this and that and this.
Wonderful series of photographs!
Your Primrose looks like Peruvian Primrose-Willow (Ludwigia peruviana), based on flower size and leaf structure. Just my guess.

Thanks for the ID on that furled yellow flower, Wally! That’s what my iNaturalist told me but I’m never sure if iNaturalist is certain ☺️
