It was springtime and romance was in the air in the wetlands 💚

But somehow this draft post of the dating and mating season got lost in my files!
Better late than never!☀️
These lovebird Great Egrets eventually had chicks – the youngsters have long since fledged and moved on. ☀️

They certainly were wearing their finest 😊. A wonderful series of photos and videos!

The first two pictures show the graceful curves into which these birds arrange their long, slender necks.

They do look beautiful and rather elegant at that stage.

Behold! The Chronicle of Egret Endeavor, Rescued from drafts to be hidden no longer, forever! A manuscript marooned in archival abyss, Now resurrected—an ornithological bliss.
With plumes most resplendent, like alabaster fans, They constructed new lodgings with wetlands as plans. A committee of cattails, sedges, and reeds Approved their blueprints for nest-centric deeds.
The chicks (once the tenants of twiggy estates) Have graduated early and flown past the gates. Yet we, the mere humans, applaud with great zest, This saga of feathers, ecology dressed.
So raise up your binoculars, polish the lens, Salute the Great Egrets—our marsh-dwelling friends!

Exactly 😫. Thank goodness for the early and vocal advocates who succeeded in putting an end to the plume trade. . . And so many important organizations and statues came into place because of their efforts.
