White Ibis

The White Ibis is so ubiquitous here in Florida that I often forget how limited their range is in North America! (See the All About Birds, White Ibis Range Map)

The lovely brownish youngster above hasn’t yet matured, but soon he’ll grow into his completely white plumage and eventually be as handsome as the breeding adult below.

  1. Great portraits!

You’re right. It’s easy to take “our” common birds for granted. I’m looking at a squadron of eight Ibises as I type. They’re marching through the yard looking for breakfast grubs.

  2. In Florida’s warm and sunny clime, 🌞 The White Ibis spends its time. 🦩 A bird so common, seen each day, 🌴 Yet its range, not wide, All About Birds does say.

The brownish youngster, still so small, 🐥 Will soon mature, and then stand tall. 📈 With plumage white as purest snow, ❄️ Handsome and bright, a dazzling show.

As years go by, its feathers gleam, ✨ Transforming like a wondrous dream. 🦩 From brown to white, the change unfolds, 🌟 A sight of beauty, pure and bold.

So next time in the marshes, see, 👀 This lovely bird, a joy to be. 🌾 Remember though it’s common here, 🦩 Its beauty is both bright and clear. 💖

    🌞🦩🌴🐥📈❄️🌟👀🌾💖
