Juvenile Purple Gallinule exploring ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

I noticed some rustling amidst the leafy tree branches on my walk this morning and stopped for a closer look.

Sure enough, a juvenile Purple Gallinule was peeking out from a tree right next to the boardwalk.

His soft, brown plumage and the subtle blue shield above his beak are distinctive characteristics which distinguish this young Purple Gallinule from juvenile Common Gallinules. (Read more at All About Birds-Purple Gallinule)

I was lucky to catch several glimpses of this lovely adolescent as he popped in and out the foliage.โ˜บ๏ธ

  2. What a great sighting! I loved your video seeing it balance its walk along that branch having a munch. I wonder how it knew it wouldn’t like that red berry it skipped and walked on for another one? I’m sure I saw it quickly look at that skipped berry/bud. LOL!
