The White Ibis, present year-round here in south Florida, is often seen unceremoniously probing for insects in the mud and grass on lawns and roadsides, looking less than glamorous.
But our White Ibises also inhabit wetland marshes and shallow ponds, where they feed on fish, frogs, and small crustaceans (Audubon). I thought this one actually looked quite lovely, preening gracefully before settling in to roost for the night on the tree island.
Lovely. A bit of the ballet dancer about this bird😊
I quite agree, Belinda. What a beautiful thought. Or maybe even a bride . . . 🙂
I mean no disrespect to the hardy and resourceful White Ibis that I know, but this bird is so darn pretty that she doesn’t even look like an Ibis.
Good one.
😉
You know, Berny, I agree with you completely! 😊
Couldn’t agree more! Great capture!
Thanks, Yaffa! This was really a pretty sight to see.
Wow, gorgeous!!!
Thanks so much, Teri. I’m glad you enjoyed this lovely Ibis!
Beautiful bird, beautiful photo.
I really appreciate your visit, Barbara. This Ibis did look especially beautiful that day.
That is a very beautiful capture!!
So nice to get your lovely comment,Tiny! The ibises so often look rather ho-hum, but the plumage on this one really stood out so beautifully. . . . I couldn’t resist taking the shot.
I know what you mean by ho-hum 🙂 But this one was a clear exception.
😀
What a sweet ibis picture.
This was such a pretty pose.
I agree, BJ — so very lovely.
Thanks for your visit, Jet – despite their often unremarkable appearance and behaviors, this White Ibis showed what a real beauty this bird can be.
