I just had the pleasure of spending two lovely and serene days at one of my favorite places, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. . . . As always, I found this to be true: “Photo opportunities are available at every turn of the boardwalk trail”~!

“Visitors will find a gentle, pristine wilderness that dates back about 600 years. A 2.25-mile boardwalk meanders through pine flatwood, wet prairie, around a marsh, and finally into the largest old-growth bald cypress forest in North America.”

stunning colors!!! what wonders!

Oh, that’s a fabulous place, so glad you got to spend some time there. I love your images of the log dividing the duck weed/no duck weed sides of water, and the vines cross-crossing the tree.

Thanks, Ellen! I’m so glad you commented about the ‘dividing log’ ☺️. That division struck me as such a unique visual.

I’m not quite sure if you’ve posted any pictures from your travels, Pam… It has been a while. I look forward to seeing what you’re up to. Am I right in assuming your Purple Martins have flown?

Yes they finished up. Been crazy busy. We are home now and have lots to post about seeing the volcano in Iceland!

Thanks so much, Wally. I even decided to join the Friends of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary this trip, because I feel so strongly about supporting their efforts.
Also…. It only takes a few visits to add up to the total cost of the yearly membership☺️

I’m so glad, Carol! I do believe you would’ve enjoyed it as much as I did. I really should post at least one of the little audio clips of all the marvelous birdsong accompanying me on my walk!

The birdsong would add such a lovely dimension. I imagine the scents in the swamp must be pretty significant too!

You’re absolutely right about the scents, Carol. In terms of the Birdsong, I was purposely capturing snippets of it in various locations and fully intended to insert some in the blog post. Then I totally forgot! Maybe I’ll figure out a way to use them with some photos until I can get back there again. ☺️
