I was drawn by the lilting song of this sweet Eastern Meadowlark while out walking in Wellington Preserve, on Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. So irresistible ~ Have a listen.
And, right across the road ….a handsome Loggerhead Shrike was posing in a low tree. What a blessing to have these delightful birds in our midst.
I love them both too! Nice pictures!

This place is where I saw my first Loggerhead Shrike – such a find! I’ve since discovered they’re quite plentiful there.

Great pictures of interesting birds. We have the western meadowhawk here and two kinds of shrikes live nearby.

Thanks! Always so interesting to hear of different birds in the same family that live in other regions of the country.
